Epoxy Floor Coating
Perfect for garages, patios, or pool decks
At Elite Painting Florida, we focus on delivering highly durable garage floor coatings that are built to last. For our epoxy applications, we use Florida Paints Flo-Poxy. It is a 100% solids, self-leveling epoxy, which means it provides an exceptionally thick, strong foundation that naturally levels out for a smooth and resilient finish.
The longevity of any floor coating depends heavily on the preparation phase. We start by thoroughly cleaning and profiling the concrete to ensure the epoxy can form a permanent bond. If the floor has existing oil stains, moisture issues, or other contaminants, we treat those areas specifically to get the concrete into optimal condition.
We start by using a professional floor grinder to remove the top layer of concrete. This will remove any dirt, residue, or staining so the epoxy has a perfect finish to adhere to. Once the surface is fully prepped, we mix the two-part Flo-Poxy system. Because it is a professional-grade product, it begins the curing process quickly once combined. Our team works efficiently to spread the epoxy in an even layer across the entire garage floor. While this base coat is still wet, we broadcast decorative color flakes across the surface. We apply a heavy, consistent layer to ensure complete coverage and a uniform appearance, and then we allow the floor to cure overnight.
The following day, we carefully scrape the entire surface to remove any loose or standing flakes. After a thorough vacuuming to ensure the floor is perfectly clean, we apply a clear polyaspartic topcoat. While epoxy is excellent for bonding to concrete, it requires protection from UV rays and chemicals. The topcoat seals the color flakes in place and provides a highly durable finish that resists fading, scratching, and automotive fluids.
After the topcoat is applied, the floor requires a brief curing period. The surface is typically ready for foot traffic within 24 hours, and you can safely park your vehicles in the garage after 72 hours. It is a meticulous process, but putting in the proper time and effort ensures a high-quality floor that will protect your garage for years to come.
